Barbet Schroeder's dark tale follows Stefan (Klaus Grunberg) in his pursuit of an American girl, Estelle (Mimsy Farmer) who he met at a party in Paris and follows to Ibiza.

Initially he leads an idyllic lifestyle with her by the sea until he succumbs to the drug culture that Estelle mixes in and the destructive trappings of heroin addiction.

The soundtrack is provided by Pink Floyd and features some of their most spontaneous and eclectic work.
